Zag et Sia

ZAG &amp; Sia have chosen to focus on the two emblematic characters of Delacroix&#39;s work, the allegorical figure of Liberty and the one of the young street boy (future Gavroche by Victor Hugo) who most effectively summarize this classic masterpiece.
In a virtuoso game of anamorphosis, our artist duo however operated an inversion of the characters to adapt to the topography of the place, a staircase along a wall on the left. Depending on their angles of view, passer-bys will therefore receive the artwork in many different ways. Only in the one right spot will the artwork, fragmented into horizontal bands of the staircase, reveal its intended shape and beauty. This emergence of the frame, in this case the staircase, multiplies the power of the movement intended by Delacroix.
Beyond the political message, it is here a technical tour de force that is sought and the surprise created by the trompe-l&#39;oeil.
